About us

The Roots is the first Malayalam Web Journal that aims to seek, discourse and propagate Ambedkar's idea of Social Democracy, and take initiative to bring and bring up Ambedkarites, working across Academic, Public and Social spheres together. We focus on the Socio-Political and Economic issues of marginalized communities and categories such as Adivasis, Dalits, Other Backward Communities, Fisher-folk, Plantation workers, Women, Sexual & Gender minorities, Racial, Linguistic & Religious Minorities, Labourers, Disabled and other oppressed groups. We also aim at relocating subjugated knowledge, bahujan cultures and the emotions therein, critiquing the oppressive structures and institutions that dominate.
